RULES FOR KAUTILYA:-
Rules for round 1:
.This is a written round of 30:00 minutes.
.Questions will be based on general business awareness.
. Top 20 students will be selected for round 2.
Rules for round 2:
.These qualified students are required to submit an abstract on any one of
the given cases available on the sankalp website.
.Ten best abstracts will be selected; these students will move to round 3.
Rules for round 3:
.Selected students from round 2 are required to give a presentation on the case of
their choice on which they have submitted the abstract.
.After the presentation a candidate will be facing the jury for counter questioning.
.Candidates have to come prepared with the presentation in a pen drive or a CD.
Marking scheme for round 3:
Marks will be allotted based on the following parameters:
. Content of the Presentation.
. Presentation skills such as communication, conviction and ability to face counter questions.
. Dressing sense (formals are preferred)
. Attitude, innovation etc.
***Rules may change as per as the decision of the organizers.
*** Organizers decision is final and can’t be questioned.
CASES FOR KAUTILYA
Case 1:
You are the C.E.O. of a beverage company. This company came in for severe
criticism from activists and environmental experts who charged it with depleting
groundwater resources in the areas in which its bottling plants were located,
thereby affecting the livelihood of poor farmers, dumping toxic and hazardous
waste materials near its bottling facilities, and discharging waste water into
the agricultural lands of farmers. Moreover, it has been also charged with
unethical business practices in developing countries led to its becoming
one of the most boycotted companies in the world. What strategies
would you adopt in these situations?
Case 2:
You are the C.E.O. of a major diamond company. This company has a global
market presence and controls the global diamond market .The company
has been indicted of funding civil wars in diamond producing African countries
like Sierra Leone and illegally smuggling the diamonds into developed countries.
What strategies would you adopt to get acquitted of all the accusations?
Case 3:
You are the C.E.O. of a multinational mutual fund investment company.
The company has a worldwide recognition for its service and customer satisfaction .
Recently, your company was charged of a billion dollar fraud and one of your managers
was found guilty of it. The company has expelled the accused manager but it has lost
its name in the global market. The share value of your company has also taken a
downward turn.What steps would you take to save the company from a deficit and
also bring back the name and fame of the company?
Case 4:
You are the C.E.O. of a reputed dairy firm. The company has a market presence both in
urban and rural areas of the country. The company produces various products, but it
holds majority of the milk market. Recently, in one of the hospitals in the country,
more than 100 infants fell sick after drinking your company’s milk. After this incident,
your company is facing severe criticism from various NGOs. Even the media has produced
various reports on this issue which puts the company’s reputation under great threat.
What steps would you take to deal with this situation?
